The Red Rifleman

The Red Rifleman

Not quite moved in, but I have some new hardware at my disposal. With access to my first black rifle, a stamped WASR, and a private range, its time to expand The New Rifleman to another platform.

The purpose of the blog is to discuss practical marksmanship and to explore topics related to the modern sporting rifle and the prepared civilian. Since there are many platforms, it makes sense to discuss the most popular and evaluate the pros and cons of each. Naturally, the AK has been on my list, but living in the North East was too expensive to do more than I was doing with the blog. Hence, with the move down south, I hope to expand the topics and the gear. Say hello to 7.62×39.

Next up: Practical Marksmanship and the Kalashnikov

Stay tuned, I’m still getting up to speed here, but the wait will be worth it.

Welcome! What part of the state are you in? If it’s the Austin area, shoot me a message if you need anything.

I’ve been pondering an AK myself for a long time. I really like the looks of the Arsenal SLR. But that’s all going to have to wait until I leave California.

Have you published the follow up yet? I look forward to hearing your opinion on the AK and the 7.62x39mm cartridge. The AK gets a bum rap for accuracy but I’m not sure that’s the case. I can really quantify how much enjoyment I’ve gotten from this site. Keep up the good work!

The next time I head to the range, the AK is coming with me. I will do a basic accuracy eval with quality defensive ammo and the typical AK fodder. Hasn’t been to the range with me just yet, so hopefully soon!
