I am amazed by the optics industry and how it has been increasing quality, decreasing price, and then increasing capability. For a while 1-8x optics have been in the 1000$ + range, but a few companies have introduced “working man” priced optics in the 1-8 flavor. Atibal’s latest offering is a 1-8x retailing at 399.99 with a free mount for a limited offer and is targeted towards 3 gunners and competitors on a budget.
Here are the specs:
- Magnification: 1-8x
- Objective Lens Diameter: 24mm
- Eye Relief: 4 inches
- Field of View: 105-12.45 ft
- Tube Size: 30 mm
- Turret Style: low profile capped
- Adjustment Per Click: 1/2 MOA
- Max Elevation Adjustment: 120 MOA
- Max Windage Adjustment: 120 MOA
- Weight: 17.4 ounces with no mount
- Length: 10 inches
- Made of 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum
I don’t have this one in my hands yet, but keep an eye out! If it is durable and has good clarity, we may have a winner for an all around budget variable. It also features a detachable Cat Tail out of the box. Can’t wait to see it. See it at Atibal’s website Here.
Interesting .. I’ll be keeping an eye open for one.
(I own five 1-4x velocity’s)
Thanks, Lothaen. What are your thoughts on the Strike Eagle? I’m in the market for something like the XP8 or Strike Eagle.
Let’s just say this: look for the product with the better warranty. Several of these entry level 1-6 and 1-8s are in fact well… Samey, if you catch my drift. 🙂
Thank you! I’ll check those out. And your German reticule got me thinking about the Trijicon Accupoint 1-6 again. Have you handled one?
No I haven’t seen one alive in person yet! I wish I could get ahold of one, but so far no dice.
